1) Lead design & development in line with the overall Product roadmap for the organization with a view to increase market Share and overall bottom-line
2) Develop strategy in alignment with customer requirement, regulations, cost, quality (durability/reliability), time, emerging trends in technology, RFE (Rational/Functional/Emotional)
3) Keeping abreast with the latest technologies across the World and build a business case for its implementation in existing/new vehicle platforms
4) Identify opportunities for standardization of design and parts across programs in co- ordination with the procurement, quality, and production management teams
5) Institutionalize best design practices to increase the robustness of scenario-planning process and risk mitigation measures
6) Take decisive calls wherever design trade-offs are involved with other systems, in collaboration with the Plant Director and under instructions from CEO
7) Identify areas where skill building is required and facilitate resource planning in Design department keeping in mind the objective of increasing skill base by providing planned exposure
8) As Design Engineering Manager you are expected to manage and coordinate design, development, and enhancement of new and existing products/product lines
9) Evaluate and ensure design feasibility and design optimization
10) You will ensure Design team meets project milestones and completes projects within the established timeline. Additionally, you will need to evaluate issues, provide resolution, and communicate to management
11) You will manage team of design engineers and provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility
12) You are expected to resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
