Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Quality Management:

Develop and maintain quality standards for non-cut commodities (sheet metal, welded assemblies, heat-treated parts, fabricated structures).

Conduct supplier audits, process capability studies, and quality assessments.

Ensure compliance with railway industry standards (e.g., EN, ISO, IRIS).

Technical Expertise:

Review and approve welding procedures, heat treatment cycles, and fabrication processes.

Validate material certifications and ensure adherence to metallurgical requirements.

Support suppliers in implementing corrective and preventive actions for quality issues.

Inspection & Testing:

Oversee dimensional inspections, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), and metallurgical testing.

Monitor and verify heat treatment records and welding quality (including WPS/PQR compliance).

Continuous Improvement:

Drive supplier performance improvement through root cause analysis and quality tools (e.g., 8D, FMEA, SPC).

  • Collaborate with suppliers to reduce defects and improve process efficiency.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, and supplier scorecards.
  • Ensure traceability and compliance with railway safety and regulatory requirements.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Production Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum 5+ years in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Quality in the railway industry. Candidate having EN15085 certified welding engineer would be preffered.

Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, welding (MIG/TIG), and heat treatment processes.

Certifications:

Knowledge of welding standards (EN ISO 3834, AWS, EN15085 etc.) and NDT Level III preferred
